Student Violin—Violin fingering information

How to Remember Those Violin Fingering Ladders

I wanted to give you a tip on helping your child to learn their violin fingering. Our daughter's teacher uses ladders. There are three ladders:
1. the natural ladder—plays natural notes
2. the flat ladder—plays the flat notes
3. the sharp ladder—plays the sharp notes

Each ladder has two fingers that are buddies. We have always had a hard time trying to remember who the buddies are. Here is what we came up with:

We say these in a fun, lively way,
1. NATURALLY, 1, 2 is all you gotta' do. (for the NATURAL ladder)
2. A FLAT 3 & 4 is where it's at. (for the flat ladder)
3. 2 & 3 sharp tarps cover a harp.

It is amazing how this has helped our daughter remember her violin fingering chart and has alleviated alot of frustration.
